Many people ask us, “if the body naturally detoxifies itself as we teach, then why attend a detox retreat?”
It’s a very good question and one I would like to discuss in this short article.
First of all it is important to realize that the body definitely does detox itself and in the ideal environment it does a really fantastic job of it. Yet the trouble occurs when we allow ourselves to sink into bad eating and other unhealthy habits, quit exercising and spend too much time indoors or sitting down in unnatural positions.
The body definitely does detox itself yet only effectively when it is in a natural and healthy state.
When the body begins to get out of balance and excess fat accumulates, organs begin to function sub-optimally and the mind sinks into depression, — well this is when we recommend taking time out of focus on healing and detoxification.
In fact we don’t particularly like the word “detox” or cleanse for that matter, we like to focus on healing. Healing the mind. Healing the body. Clearing the emotions and mental blocks that may be holding us back.
Getting back into a natural healthy state allowing the body to do what it does best: detox your system naturally.
There is a good article on Metro about how the body cleanses itself that you may want to read. It talks about how the body is working and the different organs involved and is well worth the read.
Our philosophy really mirrors this because we simply believe in helping the body get back into the healthy state where it can heal itself. So instead of doing extreme diets or full juice cleanses, we see from experience and science that the best detox retreat is actually not what is out there much at all.
The best retreats focus on restoring your body to proper function so it can simply heal itself.
